League Overview And Rules
Welcome baseball fans to another exciting year of the Baseball Challenge! This is our 7th year of competition and hope to continue for many more as long as there is a strong interest.
The entry fee is $3.00 per team and there is no limit on the number of teams you can purchase. To select your team you must choose 1 player from each category to fill your required players. Then to round out your team you pick an additional 2 hitters (from either league) that are not in either of the Hitters categories and 2 additional Pitchers (from either league) that are not in either of the Pitchers categoreis. All teams must be finalized by Opening Day. I will provide everyone with a listing of all the teams after they are finalized.
Once again, each team will be allowed one trade during the regular season. This can be used to replace an injured player or just a player that is struggling on your team. The catch is if you trade a player from one of the categories, you must replace him with a player from that same category. Example: I have Manny Ramirez and he gets hurt. I can only replace him with another player in the AL Hitters category (A. Rod, D. Ortiz, J. Giambi, R. Sexson, M. Teixeira, T. Glaus, J. Dye, J. Thome, or T. Hafner). The players that you are allowed to select on your own can be traded for any player that is NOT listed in a category. The trades will be reflected on the first full day of games after it has been submitted to the Commissioner. So if you get it submitted before games start on the day you submit it, the players stats will be factored into your score starting on that day. There will be no trades allowed after the MLB trade deadline this year so make sure you take advantage of your 1 trade before then. These trades need to be submitted to the Commissioner.
How do you compete? With every homerun your hitters hit you gain 1 point each and with every win your pitchers get you gain 2 points each. We will pay out the winnings to the top 3 teams at the end of the year as so:1st = 75%2nd = 15%3rd = 10%
Tie breakers will be determined 1) by the team with the most combined RBI's by their hitters on their team at the end of the regular season and 2) by the team with the most combined innings pitched by their pitchers on their team at the end of the season.
If you have any other questions please email the Commissioner.
Let's get started and good luck to all!
